Our Stories

Charlotte Braithwaite
Hi, I’m Charlotte, one half of Thrive in Practice. Having come from a corporate marketing background, I was always business-minded and wanted to build a successful private practice. But early on, I found that working exclusively 1:1 left me feeling isolated, unfulfilled, and soon burnt out.
7 years (and many lessons) later, I’ve redefined for me what it means to thrive both personally and professionally. Today, my practice is a dynamic mix of 1:1 and couples therapy, leadership coaching and psychoeducational presentations to corporate clients including the BBC, NHS and Tesco.
I’m proud to have built a business that is deeply fulfilling, financially abundant, and offers precious flexibility for my family life. Now, my passion lies in sharing the wisdom of my experience with other ambitious therapists, to help you to find their version of what it means to thrive in practice.
Elsie Owen
Hello, I’m Elsie. When I started in 2019, I knew I wanted a private practice, but gave very little thought to how I wanted it to feel. I hit capacity quite quickly, still wasn’t earning nearly enough, and I was tired, bored, uninspired and wondered if it was really worth it…
A whole different landscape emerged when I started using Instagram. I channelled experience from a previous life in marketing, and my determination to find a way to diversify (and earn more!) drove me to deep-dive into building an online community.
Today my work is varied and fulfilling and my business is not just financially rewarding but feels sustainable, too. A small-ish caseload is still my ‘bread and butter’, but this now sits alongside group work, my online course and other digital offerings.
And I have the total joy of supporting fellow therapists to find their own versions of what I’ve just described - I love holding intentional space for therapists to work out what they want, and guide them towards making it happen.
